Laura Steenburgen, MSN, CNP, PMHNP-BC, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing compassionate, individualized psychiatric care for children age 6 and older, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Laura earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University and serves as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with Calm Harbor Behavioral Health Services, as well as with the United States Army Reserves
Laura’s nursing career has taken her through many different areas of healthcare, including rural mental health, psychiatric inpatient care, hospice, public health, school nursing, intensive care, home health, and correctional medicine. These experiences have shaped Laura into the way she practices today, teaching her that every person has a story, that mental health is deeply connected to the circumstances in which we live, and that compassionate care begins with meeting people where they are.
She provides psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and supportive care for individuals across the lifespan. Her approach is personalized, collaborative, and compassionate, with a focus on understanding each patient’s unique needs and goals.
Drawing from her experience in rural communities, she is passionate about making mental healthcare accessible, respectful, and free of judgment. Her goal is to create a safe space where patients feel heard, empowered, and supported on their journey toward greater stability and well-being.
